There is a war between my passions and reason,

259
There is a war between my passions and reason,
Passions try to break the circle of reason but vain,
Wisdom rejects it forcefully and calls it treason,
Against natural laws, it makes life full of pain,
Reason lives in my brain, passions in my heart,
Passions change, but reason not, to argue futile,
Reason cannot be bought but passions from mart,
Nothing hidden on earth watching from a mile,
Reason gives us pleasure and passions grief,
As thorns around buds protection of flower,
My Muse tells your all secrets in words brief,
Why turns pale, do think, a red rose tiny leaf,

Always cut passions’ carrion from reason knife,
Then on earth will be your short life free of strife
